On October 20, 2024, our church voted to affirm the following Statement of Faith that was developed by our elders: Statement of Faith.
Also available to you is our series of sermons, "Doctrinal Foundations," which covers each of the major doctrines addressed in the Statement. If you have questions or would like to hear more about our beliefs and their biblical basis, these sermons would be the best place to start.
In addition, we are a cooperating member of the Southern Baptist Convention. The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (BF&M 2000) is the Southern Baptist Convention confession of faith, and the First Baptist Milton family affirms and agrees with it. So, why write a separate Statement of Faith? The BF&M 2000 is intentionally broad and gives Southern Baptists doctrinal parameters within which we are willing to cooperate with other churches for the purpose of missions, church planting, and theological education. While we believe this is helpful for an organization of approximately 47,000 churches, we also felt it wise to provide clarity and precision regarding the doctrinal distinctives of our particular church.
