What We Believe

Our faith is built on the unchanging truth of God’s Word. Here’s what we believe and why it matters.

Anchored in Scripture, Rooted in Truth

At First Baptist Milton, we believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. It is our final authority for all matters of faith and practice. Everything we believe, teach, and do flows from Scripture. We don’t follow trends or cultural opinions—we stand on the timeless truth of God’s Word.

Our beliefs aren’t just theological statements on paper—they shape how we worship, how we live, and how we make disciples. We want you to know exactly what we believe and why we believe it, so you can grow in your own understanding of God’s truth.

Our Core Convictions

Authority and Sufficiency of Scripture

The Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant, and sufficient Word for all matters of faith and practice. Scripture alone is our ultimate authority, while we honor the wisdom of historic Christian tradition.

The Triune God

God exists as one essence in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal, yet distinct in their roles within the Godhead.

Complementarian Design

God created men and women as equal in dignity but distinct in roles. This complementarian design reflects God’s glory in marriage, family, and church leadership, where qualified men bear the responsibility of eldership.

Present Reign of Christ

Jesus Christ is King now over all spheres of life—spiritual, cultural, and political. His Kingdom is both already inaugurated and not yet consummated, calling disciples to live under His Lordship in every area.

God's Sovereignty and Human Freedom

We affirm the absolute sovereignty of God working through genuine human freedom. God’s eternal decree does not negate human responsibility, but establishes it within His perfect plan.

Salvation by Grace Alone

Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Sinners are justified by God’s grace, not by works, and are progressively sanctified by the Spirit’s power throughout life.

Our Statement of Faith

“On October 20, 2024, our church voted to affirm the following Statement of Faith that was developed by our elders. This statement provides clarity and precision regarding the doctrinal distinctives of First Baptist Milton and serves as our guide for teaching, preaching, and ministry.”
